Cumberland Group to Help Businesses Capitalize on Opportunities Emerging as IT Trends Encompass Mobile, Cloud, Analytics and Social Technologies

Veteran metro Atlanta-based IT solutions and infrastructure provider Abacus Solutions LLC, is lending its business and tech cachet to a new venture. The 14-year-old company is announcing Cumberland Group, a separate business that will focus on consulting global enterprise organizations on the most strategic ways to harness IT’s powerful new models.

“Our team of experts has been successfully leading our clients toward the smartest, most tailored infrastructure solutions since 2000, a span of years that has seen monumental changes in technology. It only makes sense that we would expand on that history to bring contemporary value to organizations and service providers,” said Ken Snuggs, co-founder and president of Abacus Solutions. Snuggs will take the helm as Cumberland Group’s president. “Internet Technology is transforming as trends built on mobile, cloud, big data and social media create challenges—but also huge opportunities—for businesses.”

Cumberland Group will focus on the industry shift to the so-called “third platform,” known as such because it follows the respective first and second platforms of mainframe and personal computing. Built on the latest technologies to come from mobile, cloud services, social networking, and analytics technologies, the third platform is altering IT’s landscape and prodding businesses to simultaneously make significant changes.

“The third platform’s boom may be novel to some, but it’s just our reality,” Snuggs said. “Cumberland Group’s mission is to guide businesses as they make critical decisions around strategy, solutions and integration necessary to navigate all of this.”
Cumberland Group CEO Patrick Hiller who has served as Abacus’ CEO from the beginning said client relationships have always been the business priority.

“This is a world that is more converged, software-defined and driven by data gathered from multiple sources, including social media. Cumberland Group’s background positions us to advise companies on the best ways to transform from traditional IT service models into the highly agile, dynamic business facilitators needed for modern enterprise,” Hiller said.
